All of our Instructors are Licensed by the California DMV.
In order to become a Driving Instructor, all applicant's must:
However, at A1 Driving School, our Instructors must complete a rigourous, multifaceted 120-hour Training Program (that goes well above and beyond the DMV mandated 60-hour Program). This program includes training on instruction techniques, traffic laws, rules of the roadway, DMV policies and procedures, specialized vehicle control & manuvering and accident avoidance. We do not nor will not put an Instructor on the road until we are sure they are completely prepared to handle the vigors of the position.
Yes, we do. They are available for your student, by request. Simply let us know that your student would prefer a female Instructor when you schedule their appointment.
Our Instructors (depending on their shift) are on the road from 730a to 1030p, 7 days a week. This allows students the opportunity to drive at any given time of the day or night, as well as in any type of traffic conditions.
Yes, we do. Rest assured that we keep a very close eye on the weather, during these times.
Also, ask yourself 2 questions:
PLEASE NOTE: If and when the weather becomes a safety concern, we will cancel your student's appointment and reschedule their lesson as soon as possible.
Students use our specialized vehicles which are equipped with a dual braking system to aid with instruction. Students are covered by our insurance provider while taking their lessons with A1 Driving School, Inc.

For Adults:

PLEASE NOTE: Your Learner Permit (or Driver License) is required to be on your person at all time while operating a motor vehicle in California.
For Teens
PLEASE REMEMBER: Teens are legally required to hold their Permit for 6 months before being eligible for the DMV Drive Test.
Lesson 1: Scheduled as soon as possible, after obtaining the Learner Permit.
Lesson 2: Scheduled at the 3-month mark, after (at least) 25+ hours of practice with a liensed driver. (This is the nighttime drive)
Lesson 3: Scheduled at the 6-month mark, after the other 25+ hours of practice with a licensed driver. We recommend that this lesson be taken no more than 7-10 days before the DMV Drive Test. Please call and schedule your teen's 3rd lesson BEFORE scheduling the DMV Drive Test.
For Adults
We recommend at least 1 weeks time between lessons. This 1 week period is to ensure additional practice with a licensed driver.
Teens are legally required to hold their Learner's Permit for 6 months, before being eligible for the DMV Drive Test. Our Driver Training Course is spread out over the 6 month period.
We teach in 2-hour increments.
Our instructors follow an established curriculum that is approved by the California Department of Motor Vehicles. Our staff is trained to take students with absolutely no experience and teach them up and through preparation for the DMV Drive Test.
Yes. Your 2-hour lesson is your own time; just you and the Instructor.
PLEAE NOTE: We do occasionally "Piggyback" students. This is a situation where the Instructor's previous student picks up the next student. The previous student is then driven to their drop-off location by the second student. "Piggybacking" in NO WAY interferes with your 2-hour lesson. However, it may cause a delay in your return time. If you do not wish to be "Piggybacked", simply let our office know and we will be happy to honor your request.
